At Shirley High School Performing Arts
College, we are committed to lifelong
learning. We believe passionately that
education can transform lives. Our staff –
teachers, a wide variety of support staff as
well as Governors – provide fantastic role
models for our students. We are one of just
a few schools in the country to have out
Continuing Professional Development
programme accredited by the College of
Teachers, affiliated to the Institute of
Education in London.
We already have over 25% of the teaching
staff who have gained the prestigious
Chartered London Teacher Status and are
Fellows of the College of Teachers, with
several more working towards this during
this academic year. Twenty teaching and
support staff expect to graduate this year
with a Post Graduate Certificate of
Educational Studies (COES) from the College
of Teachers.
Our staff follow many other learning paths,
such as NVQ, HLTA, Masters Degrees and
Graduate Trainee programmes. We also support
many beginning teachers in their careers and
studies.
