Shirley High's motto is "Striving for Excellence" and we strive to be excellent and achieve in everything we do.

GCSE 2026

Shirley High School is delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 pupils and recognise the hard work, determination and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their GCSE journey.

Over 50% of pupils achieved a pass in both English and Mathematics, while our Creative and Performing Arts subjects continue to achieve excellent outcomes. Art and Photography continue to perform significantly above the national average, and more than 70% of pupils achieved grades 6–9 in Dance and Music.

There have also been some outstanding individual successes. Dipishan A achieved seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and one Grade 7. Leona F achieved one Grade 9, six Grade 8s, two Grade 7s and one Grade 6. Efe K achieved five Grade 8s and five Grade 7s, while Thando K results included four Grade 8s and three Grade 7s.

These achievements are excellent examples of what can be accomplished through focus, hard work and determination.

Principal Tyrone Myton said: “These achievements are a testament to the commitment and perseverance of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and the invaluable support of families. Throughout their GCSE journey, our pupils have demonstrated remarkable resilience, overcoming challenges and have continued to strive for their very best.”

We are also delighted that a significant number of our Year 11 pupils will continue their education at Shirley High School Sixth Form, which boasted its best ever results last week.  With a broad range of A-Level and vocational courses available, students can build on their GCSE achievements while continuing to work towards their future academic and career ambitions.

We would like to congratulate all of our Year 11 pupils on their achievements and thank their families and our dedicated staff for their continued support. We wish every pupil the very best as they begin the next exciting chapter of their journey.
