Final day of LFD testing this week

Well done to all students and staff.

We are delighted to let you know the plan for wider reopening and thank you for your patience while we finalised these details.  As stated in our letter on Friday we have an obligation to complete a Lateral Flow Test for all consenting students. We currently have consent for over 60% of the student population. Remember testing isn't compulsory but is strongly advised.  Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days is not required to have a Lateral Flow Device test.  To ensure that we can complete our testing commitments and return to face to face lessons as soon as possible, we have staggered the start of our reopening and will continue to offer remote learning alongside our scheduled programme.

Expectations for the day(s) are below:

  • Day One - Testing and Face to face session with Form tutor
  • Day Two - Testing and Well-being checks plus additional school information
  • Day Three - Testing will take place during face to face lessons

Please be aware that those consenting to have LFD tests MUST attend on Day One of their specific year group.  For logistical reasons we need to ensure that all receive their test at their allocated time to avoid delays, which may impact on student learning.

Results: Please ensure your child brings a book to read whilst waiting for his / her test result.  All students will be held in a well ventilated area and be required to maintain a social distance from each other for 30 minutes whilst waiting for their results.  Results are sent via email and / or text as per the details provided on the consent form.  If you do not hear from the school you can assume the test is negative.

Positive Results:  In the event of a positive result, you will be contacted to come and collect your child. Your child will be sent home with a PCR test (for laboratory testing) to confirm the positive result.  Your son / daughter will be held in an isolated room until collection.  In the event of a positive test result, your household would be required to self-isolate for 10 days in line with government guidance.
